A 29-year-old Briton died in Wales on January 5 from a caffeine overdose. The man would have died after drinking the equivalent of 200 cups of coffee by mistake, according to the report of the investigation published on Wednesday March 2.
The victim, a sports coach who wanted to boost his performance, had indeed decided to use a technique consisting of drinking caffeine at a certain dose.
Except that the latter has incorrectly weighed the quantity he should take.
And, after drinking his shaker of coffee, Tom Mansfield felt chest pains and his heart beating at a much higher rate than usual.
392 mg of caffeine per liter of blood
Worse still, during the night, foam started to come out of his mouth. As he lost consciousness, his wife and neighbors called an ambulance.
