A man died and a woman suffered minor injuries after the detection of the vehicle in which they were still taking place, in the late afternoon, on the A7 motorway, in the Abação area.
According to information obtained by Grupo Santiago, the accident occurred at kilometer 44.9 in the direction of Fafe-Guimarães, when the light passenger vehicle left the lane.
The Fafe Volunteer Firefighters received the alert at 7:58 pm, mobilizing eight operational personnel, an extrication vehicle and an ambulance. The Fafe SIV and the VMER de Guimarães team were also mobilized for the rescue operation.
The couple will have left Ribeira de Pena for their residence in Porto.
Although he was promptly assisted, the 56-year-old man died on the spot, and his body was taken to the Medical-Legal Office of Guimarães where he was to be autopsied.
The other occupant of the vehicle of approximately the same age suffered minor injuries, being assisted and taken to the Hospital Senhora da Oliveira.
The Fafe Traffic Brigade was called in to register the occurrence, and must now investigate what may have motivated the accident.
