Man died after serious traffic accident in Øvre Årdal – NRK Vestland

Just before 06:00 the police were notified of a single closure on Fv53 Midnestunnelen between Øvre Årdal and Årdalstangen.

A man in his 50s from Årdal municipality died in an accident after driving into the tunnel wall.

– There was one person in the car and the person in question was unfortunately declared dead in the city. The next of kin have been notified, the West police district writes in a press release.

There was major material damage to the city and the tunnel has been closed for large parts of the morning.

Just after nine o’clock there was manual routing in the city and the car wreck is covered.

The tunnel will be closed for a shorter period later today in connection with further work on the site, the police say.
