D. wore the ankle bracelet due to a previous conviction in a gun case. The man was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison in June last year for possession of a weapon.
Although the man was sentenced to twenty years in prison on Tuesday for his involvement in the wrongful murder in Beuningen, it didn’t appear that way at first. The Gelderland court decided on 15 November that there was insufficient evidence against D. and his pre-trial detention was therefore lifted.
The situation changed when at the end of November the Public Prosecutor provided new evidence against D., obtained from new telephone messages decrypted by Sky ECC. The man was eventually convicted of this new evidence but was allowed to await the verdict on December 20.
The OM says that it had been agreed with the convict’s lawyer that D. would report it on 21 December. But that didn’t happen because the man cut off his ankle bracelet. He is now internationally wanted.
The man is the brother of the prime suspect
The escaped man, also known as rapper Auki, is the brother of the main suspect Jomairo D. Jomairo is seen as the client behind the wrong murder in Beuningen and was sentenced to thirty years.
His brother August was involved in preparing the attack on innocent Nijmegen handyman Mehmet Kiliçsoy in July 2020. The victim was mistaken for someone else, but it was never clear who.
According to the judiciary, August D. was also involved in an attack on a man in Tienhoven. Once again, the victim, who survived the bombing, was not the intended target. But the court has seen too little evidence for this.
In addition to the two brothers, four other suspects were sentenced to 22 years in prison for the Beuningen murder.
Although the ankle ligaments have become increasingly strong, it is not impossible to cut them. This also has to do with the fact that the ankle straps need to be removable in the event of a medical emergency, such as a car accident.
D.’s attorney was not immediately available for comment.
