“Man Claims to be Prophet Muhammad’s Representative in Shooting at MUI Headquarters”

Perpetrator shooting head office of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), a man with the initials M is said to have claimed to be the representative of the Prophet Muhammad SAW when he damaged facilities at the Lampung DPRD office.

The Head of Public Relations of the Lampung Police, Kombes Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, said that the action was carried out by M in 2016. For his actions he was subject to the article destroying public facilities and was sentenced to five months in prison.

“He always claimed that he was the representative of the Prophet Muhammad SAW and has been prosecuted by the public prosecutor for five months,” said Pandra to reporters, Tuesday (2/5).

Pandra said that his party would now conduct an investigation with the Metro Police into M’s actions, which carried out the shooting terror at the MUI headquarters, Jakarta.

“Basically, how are we? joint investigation yes, joint in the investigation of this case. That’s all. The Lampung Policeback up Polda Metro Jaya,” he said.

M died after carrying out the action. He died after being arrested and undergoing treatment at the Menteng Health Center, not far from the location of the shooting.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Komarudin stated that the police are still investigating the motive for the shooting that was carried out by M. He said that M carried out the action using an airsoft gun.

The police also confirmed that there were no casualties from the action, except for only two officers who were shot and suffered minor injuries.

“Currently we are going to do an autopsy, from there we will find out the cause of death,” said Komaruddin.
