This goal prompted protests from Wolves. They believed that Bernardo Silva had interfered with the goalkeeper when Stones took the ball to goal, so it happened offside.
The line judge raised the flag first. However, VAR called referee Chris Kavanagh to the screen and after investigating, the on-field referee ruled that the goal was legitimate.
According to reports, the referee thought that Bernardo was not bothering the goalkeeper enough because he looked down and moved away. The problem is that in the longer recording, Bernardo stuck to Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa from the start and this was considered to be enough to influence the game.
“There wasn’t a lot of contact, but because he was still blocking the goalkeeper so I think that affected the game,” said Micah Richards who is a former Man City player and a Sky Sports reporter.
According to detikers, was Man City’s goal correctly declared legitimate, or should it have been disallowed?
