Kevin De Bruyne realize the magnitude of the meaning Champions League final for Manchester City. De Bruyne admits City can be considered a failure if they lose to Chelsea.
City will finally appear in the final Champions League first. Previously, their best achievement in the highest European club competition was the semifinals in the 2015/2016 Champions League.
As Premier League champions, City are favored over Chelsea in the Champions League final. Moreover, Pep Guardiola’s team has a 19-point lead over Chelsea, who finished fourth in the Premier League standings.
City have also won two titles this season. Apart from the Premier League title, The Citizens also won the English League Cup.
However, Kevin De Bruyne admits that Champions League final much larger scale. Losing to Chelsea could feel very bad for City.
“We as players are very aware of the magnitude of this match,” said De Bruyne as reported by Guardian.
“If you win you are a hero and if you lose you are almost certainly a failure, even if you are not a failure because getting to this point has been incredible for the team and the individual.”
“But if you don’t win it, yes, it will be something you don’t want to feel but it happens.”
“This has been one of the club’s targets and the players to be in the final to play in the highest stage in the world is a privilege,” continued the Belgian midfielder.
“I think everyone understands the pressure, but at least we should enjoy this game. We have to face it with a smile and consider it a place where you want to give your best,” he said.
Manchester City will face Chelsea in Champions League final. Laga Man City vs Chelsea will be held at the Estadio do Dragao, Porto, Sunday (30/5/2021) at 02.00 WIB.
