Man City vs Arsenal: The Gunners won 2-1 in the first half

Arsenal winning 2-1 over City of Manchester in the first half. Left behind by Erling Haaland’s goal, the Gunners recovered through Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel.

Manchester City vs Arsenal in the follow up game Premier League took place at Etihad Stadium, Sunday (22/9/2024). Minutes after the start, the incident happened when Kai Havertz hit his body in Rodri.

Rodri fell immediately. However, the referee did not consider this a break.

Man City opened the opportunity in the 7th minute. Ilkay Guendogan can stop in the penalty box. But his volley went wide.

Cry!!! Man City did not miss the opportunity this time. Erling Haaland escaped the offside trap after using a pass from Savinho. Haaland calmly launched a low kick that deceived David Raya in the 9th minute.

Man City did not relax their attacks even though they were ahead. They almost doubled their lead through Guendogan’s free kick. Arsenal survived with surrender as the ball kept hitting the post.

Man City had to miss Rodri after he collapsed again due to a clash with Thomas Partey. Rodri was withdrawn to be replaced by Mateo Kovacic.

Cry!!! Arsenal took a quick free kick down the left when Man City’s players weren’t ready. Gabriel Martinelli released a pass that was immediately hit by Riccardo Calafiori. Calafiori’s shot from the edge of the penalty box was sent into the left corner of Ederson’s goal in the 25th minute.

Man City had the upper hand going into the middle of the first half. However, they struggled to control Arsenal’s backline.

Locked up, Kyle Walker tried a long shot. The effort was still weak so it was easy for David Raya to secure it.

Arsenal stole the opportunity from a corner kick in the 37th minute. Gabriel was able to control the ball but his header still went up.

London Cannon’s quick attack could trouble Man City again. Leandro Trossard receives a pass from the left. Trossard’s shot did not bother Ederson as it went up.

Cry!!! This time Gabriel was able to widen the corner kick well. Gabriel bought Saka’s ball to goal in the 45 + 6th minute.

Towards the break, Arsenal had to play with 10 players. Trossard was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for fouling Bernardo Silva.

The score remained 2-1 in favor of Arsenal until the end of the first half.
