Man City Lose and Liverpool Wins Big, the Reds Really Benefit: Okezone the Ball

LIVERPOOL – legend footballer Liverpool, Jamie Carragher, assessing the squad The Reds – the nickname Liverpool – got a big boost after carrying out the ninth week of the 2020-2021 Premier League. Because, when their strongest rival in the race for the title this season, Manchester City, suffered a defeat, they actually won big.

Man City accepted a painful defeat on Sunday, November 22, 2020, WIB. Visiting Tottenham Hotspur’s headquarters, Man City fell 0-2 through goals from Son Heung-min and Giovanni Lo Celso.

This defeat made Man City worse off in the middle to the bottom of the 2020-2021 Premier League. Until the ninth week, Josep Guardiola’s team was stuck in 13th place with a collection of 12 points.

Manchester Blue is far behind Liverpool. The Reds currently occupies second position with a collection of 20 points. Most recently, Liverpool won 3-0 over Leicester City.

Playing at Anfield Stadium, Liverpool’s goals were scored by Jonny Evans (own goal), Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino. This victory has not yet put Liverpool in the top position.

Currently Liverpool are sitting in second place with a collection of 20 points, exactly the same as Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the ladder. Even so, Carragher assesses that the things that happened in the ninth week of the 2020-2021 Premier League really benefit Liverpool.

“Psychologically, this feels like a big win. “The fact Manchester City lost this weekend, which I think is Liverpool’s toughest rivals in the race for the Premier League title,” Carragher said, quoting from Sky Sports, Monday (23/11/2020).

True, this season Liverpool have been hit by a hurricane of injuries. It was recorded that before the Liverpool vs Leicester City match was held, there were eight players who were in the treatment room. Ironically, six of them have status as core players.

They are Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara. Apes for Liverpool, in the match earlier today they had to lose Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri who were injured.

Even so, coach Jurgen Klopp already has a standard pattern of play. Evidently the storm of injuries has not stopped Liverpool from getting positive results so far.
