Man City Hajar Arsenal 4-1

Manchester City strolled into the semifinals of the English League Cup. Breakout was won convincingly with a 4-1 victory over Arsenal.

At the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday (23/12/2020) in the morning WIB in the English League Cup quarter-finals, Man City made a good start. Gabriel Jesus had opened the scoring in the third minute.

Arsenal who had been waiting for more managed to equalize in the 31st minute through Alexandre Lacazette. 1-1 score lasted until the first half was complete.

Man City went crazy in the second half. Starting with Runar goalkeeper Alex Runarsson’s blunder which led to Riyad Mahrez’s goal, Citizens then added two other goals through Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte.

This victory is Man City’s ticket to the English League Cup semifinals. Previously in other matches, the Championship division team Brentford had already qualified after a 1-0 win over Newcastle United.

Only three minutes into the game, Man City was already ahead. Phil Foden passes to Oleksandr Zinchenko on the left and continues with a cross that Gabriel Jesus grabs in front of goal.

The next attempt from Man City came from Fernandinho’s feet. His shot ended wide as it hit Gabriel Magalhaes.

Arsenal responded through a corner. Alexandre Lacazette grabbed Dani Ceballos’ bait, but it went off the mark.

Riyad Mahrez’s kick still hit Mohamed Elneny in the 21st minute. Aymeric Laporte grabbed the bait from his stomach from a corner. Haven’t met the target yet.

GOAL! Arsenal equalized in the 31st minute. With a quick attack on the left, Gabriel Martinelli’s pass was headed by Lacazette at the far post. The ball is lodged in the left corner of the goal.

Almost Man City returned to lead in the 41st minute. Mahrez and Foden’s collaboration allowed Jesus, who was only facing the goalkeeper. But Jesus’ cheat could not beat Runar Alex Runarsson. The first half is complete.

GOAL! Man City took the lead again in the 54th minute thanks to a Runarsson error. Mahrez’s free kick leads right at him, but he fails to punch the ball perfectly and instead goes into the net.

Man City scored the third goal five minutes later. Fernandinho’s breakthrough bait was received by Foden, who only faced the goalkeeper. Quietly he tucks the ball past Runarsson.

This goal is likely to cause debate as replays show Foden in an offside position. For the record, this match is not equipped with Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.

4-1! Laporte brought Man City to widen the difference in the 73rd minute. Starting from a corner kick, Foden released the bait after receiving the ball from Mahrez. The bait was then headed by Laporter from close range into the goal.

Arsenal threatened in the 85th minute. Folarin Balogun broke through and found Nicolas Pepe, who then shot at goal. The kick slid slightly to the left.

Attempts from Zinchenko in front of the penalty box to greet Sergio Aguero were still soaring. Not long after, Mahrez got a chance but was stopped by the goalkeeper.

The match finally ended with a score of 4-1 to win Man City.
