Man City are not safe yet, but have an advantage over Dortmund

Manchester

Manchester City bagged a 2-1 win in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal against Borussia Dortmund. Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne relieved, although a little worried about the result.

At the Etihad Stadium, Wednesday (7/4/2021) in the morning WIB, De Bruyne became the star of City’s victory. He managed to score a goal in the 19th minute, completing Riyad Mahrez’s pass in the penalty box.

In City’s second goal, he was also the initiator. At the end of the second half, his gastric bait went to Ilkay Guendogan then forwarded to Phil Foden which completed it into a goal.

Throughout the match, City were more dominant, though Dortmund also put up with resistance. De Bruyne et al. Were at least superior in numbers shot on goal (5: 3) and superior in ball possession (61.6%: 38.4%).

This victory makes City only need a draw in the second leg next week. Even so, De Bruyne admits how difficult it is to tame Dortmund.

“We saw their style of play. They were good with the ball, they created problems every now and then. In the first half we had a hard time creating chances, but in the second we got a few.” De Bruyne to BT Sport after the match.

“We should be able to score more goals, but when they equalized to 1-1, it was a little embarrassing but that’s all.” De Bruyne.

“I thought our reaction (after conceding) was so good, so it’s nice to win. The 2-1 score was a bit tricky, but at least we have the advantage to look at the second leg, “said the Belgian.
