Man Charged with Murder and Attempted Murder in New York City Shooting Spree

In New York City, a 25-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after allegedly shooting at passers-by while riding a scooter. The police announced on Sunday (local time).

An 86-year-old was killed and three other men were injured. According to the information, a total of six attacks occurred in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens on Saturday. The motive of the alleged shooter Thomas A. is unclear. Police arrested him several hours after the first shots were fired on Saturday. Police seized the scooter and a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine.

The attacks began around 11:10 a.m. when the gunman shot a 21-year-old man in the shoulder in Brooklyn. The man was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, according to police. A little later, the perpetrator shot 86-year-old Hamoo Saeidi in Queens. Shortly thereafter, witnesses reported a man on a scooter who shot randomly at a group of people. However, nobody was hit. Eight minutes later, a 44-year-old man was shot in the face. He is in the hospital in critical condition. About a minute later, a 63-year-old was shot in the upper body. He was also taken to a clinic and his condition was stable. Police later reported a sixth shooting at an intersection. A 40-year-old man who was shot at was not injured.
