Emmy and her husband Rutger were guests on Friday evening in Beauwhere they talked about the new program – reminiscent of Chateau Meiland† Where the lady of the castle talks enthusiastically about her palace, Rutger prefers to put the chateau up for sale again as soon as possible. He has absolutely nothing to do with it and still lives in the Netherlands, on a Gooische houseboat.
“I’m laughing about it now, but it was really very difficult”, the I leavestar opens a book, after which she admits to being lonely on a regular basis. “I did it alone, I knew that.” Although jokes are made at the table, the lady of the castle still regularly says that she is afraid. “Not a lot of fear, but just: be prepared.”

After hearing all this, Beau cannot comprehend that her husband leaves her there alone. “She wanted it anyway”, is Rutger’s dry answer when Beau asks him. “Yes, but you are her lover, aren’t you? Then you must support her, right?” the presenter tries again, to which Emmy replies: “In the beginning I was of course very sorry that he was not there (…) Yet I thought: I want to do this. I wanted an adventure in my life. I was then almost 60 and thought I can wait until I’m 67 and retire and then, I know a lot, on a trip around the world or some other adventure But first of all you don’t know if you’ll make it, that’s a very important consideration for me No one gives you that guarantee that you will be 67.”
In addition, she no longer wanted ‘hard work’ and ‘sitting inside’. “I want it now, while I’m still young and fit,” she laughs.

Yet Emmy has not been completely alone lately, her husband visited her in France for six months. “I am very happy, I am now 72, that I can experience this adventure. But at a distance, that is,” he says.
