STOCKHOLM – A man preparing to burn Torah and Bible outside the Israeli Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, has canceled his plans. He then demonstrated against the desecration of religious scriptures and specifically defended it Al-Qu’ran which had been subjected to burning previously.

Ahmad Alloush (32) took a lighter out of his bag and threw it on the ground in the Swedish Capital on Saturday (15/7/2023). He said he never intended to burn any religious scriptures.

He then took out the Qur’an and criticized a previous incident in which a copy of the Muslim holy book was burned in front of a Stockholm mosque.

“If you want to criticize Islam, that’s fine,” he said, as quoted Al JazeeraSunday (16/7/2023).

“But burning the Koran is not freedom of expression,” he continued.

Swedish courts previously allowed the burning of the Torah and Bible because they constitutionally protect the right to freedom of assembly, expression and demonstration.

“This is a response to those who burn the Koran – freedom of speech has limits,” said Alloush.

He has repeatedly said in Arabic and Swedish that he could never burn religious scriptures. He just wanted to demonstrate against the burning of the Koran.
