In the middle of a night out, 28-year-old James Howard-Jones received a severe blow to the head that left him in a coma for more than a year.
According to the Crown Court of the town of Gloucester (United Kingdom) the young man was beaten by Ben Davies, 24, during the night of April 24, 2022.
Ben admitted to “unintentionally inflicting serious bodily harm” on James, because after punching him, the young man fell and hit his head.

After being unconscious for several weeks and undergoing multiple surgeries, James was diagnosed as brain dead.
His family held out hope that James would wake up, but as the months passed, they considered donating his organs to save other people’s lives.
According to the British media outlet Daily Mail, when his parents accepted that they would no longer share with James, they ordered him to disconnect, but a miracle happened, he woke up.
