A man convicted of murder in Delaware was arrested carrying a ghost gun and a bag full of crack when he tried to enter a subway station in the Bronx without paying a ticket, the authorities reported.
Identified as Jermaine Greene42 years old, was trying to pass through an open exit door towards Fordham Road station in University Heights around 5:45 p.m. Thursday when he was captured by officers doing an inspection at the stationsaid the officials.
When the officers arrested him, They discovered that Greene had two open warrants. Besides, They found an untraceable ghost gun and a Ziplock bag of crackexplained the New York Police Department (NYPD).
“Apparently, you didn’t get the memo that the NYPD is very focused on traffic safety,” NYPD Traffic Chief Michael Kemper said on Friday X.
“Nor did he get the memo that law-abiding New Yorkers are fed up with open lawlessness at the turnstiles.”

The capture was made a few hours after the mayor Eric Adams to announce to city that gun scanners will soon be used at train stations to help reduce spike in violenceincluding three shootings in subway stations, with eight victims.
Kemper, who was with the mayor during the announcement, indicated that Its officers have seized 21 firearms so far in 2023.
“His dedicated Transit District 11 police officers confronted him and recovered this loaded ghost gun and cocaine, crack cocaine, felony,” Kemper said on X about Greene’s arrest.
The man was charged with weapons and drug possession and fare evasion.. His arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court was pending Friday.
“Whether it’s good old-fashioned policing or embracing innovative technology, the NYPD will be steadfast in keeping guns and dangerous criminals out of our subways,” Kemper said. “New Yorkers deserve nothing less.”
Greene was arrested for domestic murder on April 19, 2004 after killing a relative in Delaware., the authorities indicated. He was convicted of manslaughter and released from prison in 2018. Shortly afterward he returned to the Big Apple.
“I don’t think he was going to visit his parole officer tonight,” NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell joked on X.
Even before moving to Delaware, Greene was convicted of robbery in the Bronx in 1999 and served three years in prison before being released.court records say.
