Man Arrested Twice in Nîmes for Driving Without License and Drunk – News17

A 34-year-old man was arrested twice this week by the police in Nîmes (Gard), we learned News17. Each time, he was behind the wheel, without a license and drunk.

During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, around 1:30 a.m., two police crews saw a man driving a Peugeot 208 in the Route d’Arles district. He drives at full speed and the police order him to stop by activating their flashing lights and two-tone siren. The driver refuses and accelerates. He does not hesitate to drive against the flow of traffic to get rid of the police.

The alert is given over police radio. A stop-stick (a portcullis, editor’s note) is used and the fugitive leaves the road, then stops. The police officers from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) arrested him. The thirty-year-old, whose driving license is suspended, is then transported to the police station and placed in police custody. He is clearly alcoholic but refuses to take the drug test.

“This man had already been taken into custody last weekend when he was already driving drunk”, indicates a source close to the investigation. At the end of his police custody on Tuesday, he was the subject of an appearance on prior admission of guilt (CRPC). The driver was to be brought before the courts again this Friday.
