Man arrested in Trondheim for illegal storage of explosives – NRK Trøndelag

The police in Trøndelag state that they have arrested a man on the E6 near Ranheim in Trondheim. The arrest is in connection with another case in the north of Trøndelag.

– In connection with an ongoing case in the north of the county, we have arrested a man in a car traveling north, the police write on Twitter.

Searched address

During the day on Tuesday, the police searched a private address in Nærøysund municipality, of which the arrested man is the owner.

– We have received indications that he is storing explosives illegally, says operations manager in Trøndelag police district, Arnt-Harald Aaslund to NRK.

The man was somewhere in the south of the country when the police made contact with him. Later in the day, he drove north towards the address and the police arrested the man when he passed Trondheim.

– We waited for him here and have now arrested him in Ranheim, says the operations manager.

Gets assistance from the bomb squad

The bomb squad from Oslo is assisting in the search of the address.

– They are there to look for explosives, says the operations manager.

The man is taken to the detention center in Trondheim. He is the only accused in the case, the police inform Adresseavisen.

– He will be tried to be questioned, but so far he has not been particularly cooperative, says Aaslund to NRK.
