A 72-year-old man has been arrested in New York because of death threats against former US President Donald Trump (75). According to court documents released on Monday, the man repeatedly called the Secret Service responsible for protecting presidents and said he wanted to kill Trump. Authorities accuse him of threatening to “kill, kidnap and physically harm the Republican.”

As early as July 2020, in a questioning by the US Capitol police, the man is said to have stated that he would get guns and kill Trump if the incumbent at the time lost the presidential election in November of that year and then did not acknowledge his electoral defeat.

Would “do anything” to kill Trump
In the following January, and thus after Trump’s electoral defeat, he left voice messages at the Secret Service office in Long Island and threatened to kill Trump and twelve unnamed parliamentarians.

“Oh, yes, that’s a threat, come and arrest me,” he said, according to the allegations. He will “do everything” to kill Trump, who is referred to as Individual 1 in the court documents, and his “twelve monkeys”.

Referred to Trump as “Hitler”

Trump had clearly lost the presidential election on November 3, 2020 against his challenger Joe Biden (78) from the Democratic Party. His term of office ended on January 20, 2021. The 75-year-old right-wing populist has not admitted his electoral defeat and spreads the often refuted claim that he was deprived of a second term through massive electoral fraud. (AFP)
