Italian police have arrested a 51-year-old man in Rome on charges of killing three women believed to have worked in prostitution. They were stabbed to death on Thursday. The man may be part of a mafia clan, reports the Italian news agency ANSA.
The man, identified by the Italian media as Giandavide De Pau, would have been involved in mafia activities in the past. He has a criminal record, which includes illegal possession of weapons, sexual assault and other violent crimes.
Found on the doorstep
The man’s victims are two Chinese women and a Colombian woman. The bodies of the two Chinese women were found by a porter on Thursday. One of the women was found in the apartment, the other at the door. She may have tried to escape. The Colombian’s body was also found in a nearby apartment by her sister.
According to the authorities, the danger has passed now that the man has been arrested.
