Depok

Police arrest man Depok, West Java, named Daud Yanuar (31) in connection with a fraud case. Daud is suspected of committing fraud by promising that the victim could enter the Police Academy (Akpol).

“The perpetrator promised to help the victim’s child pass the 2022 Police Academy education selection by asking for a certain amount of money,” said Kasatreskrim Depok Police Commissioner Hadi Kristanto to reporters, Friday (10/11/2023).

Hadi said that at that time the perpetrator promised the victim’s child to enter the Police Academy by paying Rp. 1.6 billion. Hadi said Daud promised that the money would be returned if the victim’s child did not escape.

“Initially, the reported party promised the complainant’s son to pass the Police Academy (Akpol) education in 2022 and then the complainant handed over Rp. 1.6 billion,” he said.

“If you don’t pass, the money will be returned in full. It turns out that the victim’s child did not pass the Police Academy selection and the complainant’s money was not returned,” he continued.

The victim then reported it to the police. Hadi said the police had arrested the perpetrator. The perpetrator was charged with Article 378 of the Criminal Code and/or 372 of the Criminal Code concerning criminal acts of fraud and/or embezzlement.
