A recently arrested man is said to have told a fellow prisoner that he is part of a criminal organization behind the attack on “Peter”. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) suspects that he meant Peter R. de Vries.
Divainy K. was arrested in his cell in April of this year. He is imprisoned for his role in arms and drug trafficking.
On Tuesday, his suspicion in the case of the murder of De Vries was first discussed in the court of Amsterdam. According to the judiciary, there is a connection between K. and the suspects who would have filmed the crime journalist after the murder attempt.
In a tapped conversation, K. is said to have said: “I am in a criminal organization” and “is behind the attack on Peter”. In a whisper he would have said to have arranged the men and to “grant” them.
De Vries was shot in Amsterdam on July 6, 2021. He died of his injuries nine days later. In court it became clear that De Vries should have been shot on July 5. The intended shooter was Konrad W.
Shooter not settled until the day of the attack
On July 5, De Vries was not in the studio RTL Boulevard to be. When the crime journalist was there a day later, W. withdrew. According to the Public Prosecution Service, W. did this because he was afraid of being arrested. That led to great anger from co-defendant Krystian M.
Justice sees M. as the one who directed the executors of the murder of De Vries. On the day of the attack, M. would have found Delano G. willing to shoot the crime journalist at the last minute. G. was arrested on the evening of the attack.
After many months of delay, a substantive hearing of the case is finally in sight. Twelve days have been set aside for this in January of next year. Until then, two introductory sessions have been scheduled. They take place in September and November.
