The Sør-East police district reports at 21:50 that at 20:00 they received a report that a man threatened several people, including children, with a knife in Drammen.
– The police were quickly on the scene with several patrols. No one should have been physically injured, the police write.
The man was arrested near his own home, according to the police.
– After supervision by a doctor, he will be arrested in Drammen. The police will carry out a more detailed survey of what happened throughout the evening, and have started questioning witnesses at the scene.
The police state that the first report meant that they treated the incident as ongoing life-threatening violence, a so-called PLIVO incident.
– Among other things, there are several children who have had a frightening experience this evening, and we therefore encourage those who want follow-up to contact the emergency room, says police station chief Øyvind Aas.
