Man Arrested for Stealing Taxi and Providing Unauthorized Ride Services in Gran Canaria

The police detain a man who stole a taxi in Gran Canaria and performed services with clients

The Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria arrested a fake taxi driver this Tuesday afternoon who had stolen a taxi from a cooperative and then had made trips throughout the day through the capital of Gran Canaria until he ended up being discovered by another colleague, that cut him off.

The event occurred early in the morning when the man allegedly arrived at a gas station, parked his private car and took advantage of the fact that there was a taxi with the keys in it to steal it.

He, dressed in a light blue polo shirt like the rest of the professionals, spent the whole day picking up passengers to take them to their destinations, while on the other hand the Local Police and the taxi drivers tried to locate him to proceed with his arrest.

This occurred late in the afternoon when a professional located the vehicle. The driver cut off the fake taxi driver, struggled with him until he took the vehicle keys from him and notified the local police.

The agents appeared at first to deal with a fight between two taxi drivers, but they verified that it was the man they were looking for and that he was arrested for theft of the vehicle, according to the sources consulted.
