Man arrested for setting fire at Lower Manhattan courthouse during Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial.

Seventeen people suffered minor injuries after someone started a small fire burning court documents inside the Lower Manhattan courthouse in New York where former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial is taking place.yesterday afternoon.

FDNY firefighters arrived at the New York State Supreme Court building located at 60 Center St in Lower Manhattan shortly after 4 pm Wednesday to respond to a report about a suspicious smell.

Preliminary information provided by a court spokesperson said that a man used a fire extinguisher on the 4th floor to put out a fire that he had started in court documents. Firefighters evacuated three floors of the courthouse.

FDNY officials reported that there were 17 minor injuries, but two people were taken to a hospital. The rest refused medical attention, he explained. ABC News.

The man who set fire to the documents was arrested, according to court spokesman Al Baker. Authorities did not immediately release his name.

The evacuation occurred hours after the conclusion of testimony in the case of the Trump’s civil fraud trial, which has been going on on the 3rd floor of the building for almost three months. Among those evacuees was Judge Arthur Engoron, who presided over the trial.

Trump was not in the building yesterday. Attorneys in the case are scheduled to present their closing arguments next month.
