Man arrested for posting child pornography in Laredo

A man was arrested for posting child pornography on Facebook Messenger, according to Acting US Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery.

Kevin Montemayor, 26, appeared in federal court Thursday to face charges of possession and distribution of child pornography.

A federal grand jury issued a three-count indictment against Montemayor on October 19. The accusation was revealed on December 7 after his arrest by Homeland Security Investigations.

According to court documents, a person linked to an IP address in Laredo had uploaded child pornography to Facebook Messenger. Police conducted a search of the residence and found Montemayor.

“A forensic analysis of the seized electronic devices from Montemayor included more than 7,000 images and videos of child pornography, according to the charges. The images allegedly included children as young as 3 years old, ”the United States Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

If convicted, Montemayor faces up to 20 years in federal prison. Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation.
