Man Arrested for Murder of Woman Found Dead in Stjørdal Residence

On Saturday evening, the police found a dead woman in her 20s in a residence in Stjørdal municipality.

A man in his 20s is now charged with the woman’s murder. There must be a close family relationship between the two.

It was the man himself who notified the police and reported himself to them, prosecutor Thomas Berg told NTB.

– The background for the charge is mainly the findings at the crime scene, says Berg.

The police received the first report about the case at 20.01

Will be tried to be interrogated

The police rushed to the scene when the first report came in. It then assumed that there was to be a badly injured or dead woman in a residence.

– When we arrived there was already an ambulance at the residence. The woman was eventually declared dead, says incident leader at the police in the Værnes region, Karl Småland.

The police were early to say that the incident was being investigated as a murder.

The man who has now been arrested will be tried to be questioned at Trondheim city center police station during the night.

The police write that they are carrying out forensic investigations at the scene and questioning, and have seized several electronic devices. An autopsy has been decided on the deceased.

Has implemented a crisis team

– We are in a very early phase of the investigation, and are working on the basis of several theories about what has happened. We cannot currently say anything more about the incident, for the sake of the investigation, says prosecutor Berg.

Stjørdal municipality has implemented a crisis team and is in the process of follow-up work for those affected.

The first report from the police came at 9:02 p.m. They then reported that they were working on a serious incident and there was no danger to the surroundings.
