Man Arrested for Fatally Shooting Anthony González in The Bronx NYC

John González, a 25-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting Anthony “Wolfie” González (35) in the head during a confrontation on a street near his home in The Bronx (NYC).

Both men lived in Soundview, the neighborhood where the tragedy occurred, the NYPD said. They shared the same last name, but were not related.

The victim and the suspect argued on Gleason Ave. near St. Lawrence Ave. around 10:30 p.m. July 11. That night the two argued for unknown reasons and the younger one pulled out a gun and shot the other. Paramedics took Anthony to Jacobi Medical Center, but were unable to save him. Five months later the arrest occurred.

Anthony “didn’t have any threat in his heart,” his half-brother Miguel González told Daily News at that moment. “He was just a great, gentle person… He was a great uncle, a great father.”

Police arrested John González on Saturday and charged him with homicide and criminal possession of a weapon. Had eight previous arrestsincluding assault, carrying a weapon and aggravated harassment.

After an arraignment in the Bronx Criminal Court, he was detained without bail. All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
