Amidst great anticipation and fear, the citizens of South Korea held their breath, as they watched a man climb the tallest tower in the country without protective wires.
The adventure ended in peace, as the authorities arrested a man who tried to climb the fifth tallest tower in the world, without ropes, as he was stopped while he was in the midst of his “dangerous operation” in the Korean capital, Seoul.
The 24-year-old was forced to stop his attempt to climb on Monday when authorities intercepted him on the 73rd floor of the 123-storey Lotte World Tower.
The climber, dressed in shorts, had been making his way up the South Korean skyscraper for more than an hour as police and firefighting crews gathered on the ground below.
A fire department official said the man was taken into custody for questioning.
In 2018, the police arrested “French Spider-Man” Alain Robert when he was halfway up the Lotte World tower.
Climbers without ropes have been regularly attempting to scale some of the tallest or most famous buildings in the world in recent years.
