The police arrested a man with the initials YS, the perpetrator of the beating YouTuber Lauren Hutagalung, who created content to intercept in the opposite direction in the Tebet area, South Jakarta. Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Bintoro, said that YS had been named a suspect.
“Already (suspect),” Bintoro told reporters, Saturday (2/9/2023).
Bintoro said YS was charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning beatings. As a result of his actions, YS is threatened with a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.
“(Desposed by Article) 170 of the Criminal Code,” he said.
The following reads Article 170 of the Criminal Code:
(1) Any person who openly and collectively uses force against persons or property, shall be punished by a maximum imprisonment of five years and six months.
(2) The guilty are threatened:
1. by a maximum imprisonment of seven years, if he deliberately destroys objects or if the force used results in injury;
2. by imprisonment for a maximum of nine years, if the violence results in serious injury;
3. by a maximum imprisonment of twelve years, if violence results in death.
Previously, YouTuber Lauren Hutagalung was mobbed by people while intercepting motorists who were going against the current in Tebet, South Jakarta. Now the police have apprehended one of Lauren’s bullies.
“Succeeded in securing a perpetrator of the crime of beating the victim content creator/YouTuber,” said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police Bintoro in a written statement to journalists, Saturday (2/9/2023).
The suspected perpetrator of the beating had the initials YS, aged 45. The perpetrator was an online motorcycle taxi (ojek online/ojol) driver.
He was arrested today at around 02.50 WIB in the Halim Perdanakusuma area, East Jakarta. Also secured by the police, hats, motorcycle taxi vests, sling bags, T-shirts, and CCTV footage at the beating site.
