Police say the four-year-old was found after they broke into a house. A local man has been arrested, writes The Guardian.
– It is a pleasure for me to say that we have saved Cleo. She is alive and in good shape, said Col Blanch, a police representative.
The four-year-old was found 70 kilometers from where she disappeared.
“My name is Cleo”
Blanch says that a police officer lifted her up, and asked her name:
“My name is Cleo,” she replied, according to The Guardian.
The four-year-old was reunited with his parents shortly after.
They were on a camping trip near the Australian city of Carnarvon when the four-year-old suddenly disappeared.
The mother Ellie Smith was the last to see the daughter. She said that her daughter woke up in the middle of the night and asked for water, before she later went back to bed.
When they woke up in the morning, Cleo and her sleeping bag were away from the family tent.
– This is the outcome we all hoped and asked for, says Blanch.
What wonderful, relieving news.
Cleo Smith has been found and is home safe and sound.

New South Wales Police Chief Mick Fuller says he burst into tears when he was told the four-year-old had been found.
He thought the chances of finding her alive were slim.
– The police never gave up hope of finding Cleo. This is the result of good, old-fashioned police work that resulted in her being found alive, Fuller says according to The Guardian.
