A Staten Island man who allegedly took off his pants and attempted to rape a woman on a moving subway train last week was arrested by authorities on Thursday.
Chris Tapia, 23, was taken into custody for attempted rape and sexual abuse for allegedly attacking a 24-year-old straphanger on a No. 1 train. 4 northbound into lower Manhattan, police said.
Tapia sat next to the victim on the train and removed his pants and underpants shortly before 11.30pm on Nov. 17, police said.
He then allegedly climbed on top of the woman and attempted to pull off her skirt by placing his hands on her body, the NYPD said.
The victim managed to flee in another car of the train and Tapia reportedly rushed to the Bowling Green train station in lower Manhattan and took a ferry to Staten Island, cops said.
Tapia is also accused of forced contact and public obscenity, the NYPD reported.
