Just hours after his release from New York’s Rikers Island prison, a 36-year-old was mugged and robbed on the street. According to media reports on Saturday evening (local time), the man was threatened by two masked men with a gun and relieved of his wallet and cell phone.
The 36-year-old had previously been released from pretrial detention for his own protection in New York, where he was awaiting trial for a robbery, because of the spreading coronavirus.
