MAN ACCUSED OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH DEADLY WEAPON ARRESTED

YUMA, Arizona

On March 8, Alain Leyva-Mickens, 19, was captured by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force on a warrant on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, in Quartzsite, Arizona.

On Jan. 28, Leyva-Mickens, a member of the 248 Boy gang, was driving through Longview, Washington, when he saw a rival gang member inside another vehicle. Since the other gang member was a target of 248 Boy, she stood on the sunroof of his vehicle and fired a pistol several times at the victim’s vehicle.

Leyva Mickens struck an occupant before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital for medical attention and survived the attack.

The Sheriffs’ Pacific Northwest Violent Offenders Task Force led the investigation, learning that Leyva-Mickens had fled Washington to avoid prosecution and sought refuge in Quartzsite, Arizona.

The U.S. Marshals Service Task Force in Yuma was asked to assist with locating and arresting Leyva-Mickens and after an extensive investigation, the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force along with members of the Paz County Sheriff’s Office and the Quartzsite Police Department identified the residence where Leyva-Mickens was hiding. Task force members conducted surveillance and after identifying Leyva-Mickens, took him into custody without incident.

Leyva-Mickens was booked into the La Paz County Jail pending extradition to Washington to face charges.
