Man abused a girl in a playground after meeting through the Snapchat application: pedophilia in New York

Andrew Ramsaroop, a resident of Queens (NYC), was indicted on suspicion of raping a 13-year-old girl in a playground after meeting through the social networking application Snapchat, announced yesterday the District Attorney for Suffolk County (Long Island), Raymond Tierney.

Ramsaroop, 30, had been arrested on May 20 and yesterday was charged with two counts of rape, and in addition to promoting the sexual performance of a minor and endangering his well-being.

The suspect met the teen and a friend of hers at Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove and attempted to get them into his vehicle, but she refused. Later that day, Ramsaroop was reunited with the 13-year-old girl in a playground in Hauppauge and allegedly raped her. He met her a second time and outraged her againpolice said.

The victim later told a school officer, who contacted Suffolk Police. “This defendant allegedly used a social media application to access the victim,” Prosecutor Tierney said in a statement.

“Supposedly knew that the teenager was 13 years old, but this adult continued to communicate with this girl and eventually convinced her to meet him in person in Suffolk County. Attacking children will not be tolerated, and offenders will be held accountable for their actions.”

Last month, also in Suffolk County, the ecuadorian immigrant Angel Tacuri pleaded guilty to sexually abusing eight boys children who attended the unlicensed nursery that his wife ran from their home.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) warned since 2020 about an increase in cases of child pornography during the pandemicdue to the lack of school, sports and recreational activities, and the increased time of adults and children online.
