Man (63) missing in Kristiansand

The police are asking for tips after a man is missing from Grim in Kristiansand.

KRISTIANSAND: – We are now investigating broadly and collecting as much information as possible, in order to be able to initiate a search, says Harald Hollerud, section leader for investigation at Kristiansand police station.

On Tuesday, the Agder police district informs that Jan Høiaas has been reported missing from Grim in Kristiansand.

His family contacted the police on Friday, to express their concern about Høiaas, which they were unable to contact.

On Saturday, the 63-year-old was formally reported missing. Police went out with a search warrant for the missing Tuesday afternoon.

– We have received a number of tips already which we will check out, says operations manager Knut Odde, to Fædrelandsvennen at 9 pm on Tuesday.

– Must have slept in a cave

According to the police, the man is said to have told the family that he had slept in a cave in Kjos in Vågsbygd on Friday night. On Friday morning, the family was informed by the man that he was by a water on Dalane. Høiaas is said to have said that it was possible to rent boats by the water.

Agder police district is interested in getting in touch with people who know the cave in Vågsbygd or the water on Dalane.

According to Hollerud, the police look at the areas around Fiskåvannet and Bukkesteinsvannet in Vågsbygdskauen and Rige and Slettheia in the direction of Brennåsen as areas that the 63-year-old may have used.

– We want to get in touch with people who may have information about the case, emphasizes the section leader.

Appearance

Høiaas is 185 centimeters tall and has a slim physique.

According to the police, he can wear a brown bubble jacket with a camouflage pattern, blue jeans or camouflage trousers, brown shoes, a black hat with LED lights and a blue backpack with the football club Chelsea’s logo.
