Mammootty’s Kannur Squad was one of the biggest hits among the Malayalam films released this year.
Directed by debutant Robbie Varghese Raj, the film revolves around a four-person police team traveling across India to investigate a case. Actor Ronnie David was one of the screenwriters of the film which created a huge sensation at the box office.
Ronnie is talking about Mammootty. Ronnie says that Mammootty is an actor who has gifted many new directors to Malayalam cinema and while narrating stories to him some people modulate the dialogues and that is pure stupidity. Rony told Mirchi Malayalam that they also made that mistake during the Kannur squad.
‘Mammooka is a person who always believes in new teams. He is always interested in new suggestions and new ideas. Such is his thought process. He was like that in the 80s, 90s and 2000s.
If it used to be Lohietan, then it became Laljos, Blassy, Amal Neeradai, Anwar Rasheed, Martin Prakat, and many others. His ability to recognize people with firepower when he sees them.
I have said in an interview before. When some people go to narrate stories to Mammooka, they modulate the dialogues and tell them to Mammooka. We only need to read his dialogues directly. Modulating in front of him is absolutely stupid.
Why do we need to say that to someone who speaks dialogue so well? As long as he does that, it is Mammooka’s job.
While telling the story of the Kannur squad, we have made that mistake many times. But it is going to happen in that one excise. But he knows that too well,’ says Ronnie David.
