Former midfielder of CSKA and the Russian national team Pavel Mamaev announced the end of his sports career, reports “Match TV”. According to him, he made such a decision because of fatigue.
“I made this decision towards the end of August. Although I can admit that I received three or four proposals, including from abroad. However, I spent a gorgeous summer with my wife and newborn son and realized that I was just tired. I want to be with my family more, ”the TV channel reports Mamaev’s words.
Pavel Mamaev is 34 years old, since July 2022 he has been in the status of a free agent. His last club was Khimki. He also played for CSKA Moscow, Torpedo, Krasnodar and Rostov. Mamaev played 15 matches for the Russian national team. Three-time winner of the Russian Cup and two-time winner of the Super Cup, as well as the champion of Russia (2012/13, as part of CSKA).
In October 2018, Pavel Mamaev, as well as football player Alexander Kokorin and his younger brother Kirill became participants in two fights in the center of Moscow. In May 2019, Mamaev was sentenced to a year and five months in a penal colony, the Kokorins to 1.5 years. In September 2019, Mamaev and Kokorin left the colony on parole.
