Malta wants to pay tourists to spend their holidays there | To travel

Malta hopes to welcome at least 35,000 holidaymakers this summer. In order to attract more tourists to the country, the tourism sector wants to ‘pay’ tourists to come and have a holiday there. They have released about 3.5 million euros for this in Malta.

Tourists who book a stay of at least three days directly with a three, four or five star hotel can earn money with it. Those who book in a five-star hotel receive 100 euros per person per stay. Guests of a four-star hotel receive 75 euros per person and a holiday in a three-star hotel is good for 50 euros per person.

Tourists who go on holiday to the Maltese island of Gozo receive an additional ten percent discount.

Malta is expected to lift travel restrictions on June 1.
