Malta has demanded the return of an old shark’s tooth to the British royal family. It was presented to little Prince George a few years ago by the well-known naturalist David Attenboro.
Malta’s Minister of Culture, José Herrera, said he would do his utmost to recover the valuable fossil because of its place in the museum.
The tooth is about 3 million years old and belonged to an extinct giant shark that could reach a length of up to 16 meters.
Today, the largest sharks on our planet are about three times smaller.
The famous Attenboro naturalist discovered the fossil in the 1960s when he visited Malta. The 94-year-old naturalist presented the valuable fossil to the prince during a visit to Kensington Castle. The photos released by the royal house show that the seven-year-old George was very interested.
