Malmö FF are Swedish champions in 2023. It is clear after 1–0 at home against IF Elfsborg in the last round of the Allsvenskan.
For the first time since 2009, the Allsvenskan was decided in a directly decisive golden match in the last round. For IF Elfsborg, a draw would be enough, while Malmö FF needed to win to be crowned Swedish champions in 2023.
After a goalless first half, it took over an hour before the second half could be started. Despite the long break, Malmö FF managed to get a grip on the match early on and in the 55th minute the home team was awarded a penalty after Isaac Kiese Thelin went down in the offensive penalty area. Kiese Thelin coolly managed the penalty on his own and scored what became the game’s only goal. A goal, and a result, which meant that Malmö FF are Swedish champions in 2023.

IF Elfsborg finishes second and wins the big silver, while last year’s SM gold winner BK Häcken finishes third. In fourth place is Djurgården IF.
Even before the last round, it was clear that Varberg BoIS and Degerfors IF would leave the Allsvenskan and play in the Superettan in 2024. The battle to avoid qualification faced the round between IF Brommapojkarna, IFK Göteborg and AIK. All teams won their respective matches, which means that IF Brommapojkarna is the team that needs to qualify for a place in Allsvenskan 2024. Utsiktens BK, who finished third in the Superettan, awaits in the qualifiers.
Next year, Malmö FF, as Swedish champions, will qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Second-placed IF Elfsborg and third-placed BK Häcken are both ready to qualify for the UEFA Conference League, while the upcoming cup winner will qualify for the UEFA Europa League. Please note that if the Swedish Champions Malmö FF also win the Swedish Cup, the league runner-up Elfsborg will instead take the qualifying spot for the UEFA Europa League. In such a scenario, Elfsborg’s place in the UEFA Conference League table goes to Djurgården’s IF.
