Mallorca beat Real Valladolid (1-2) this Friday at the start of the eighth day of LaLiga EA Sports, with a great goal from Cyle Larin and the sentence from Valery, to sleep in Champions League positions.
Jagoba Arrasate got a little closer to what he wants from his new man, a Mallorca who knows how to suffer, always tries to be intense and not forgive. This was the visiting match at the José Zorrilla, where Valladolid had a chance to take the lead and ended up extending their losing streak to six games without winning.
Larin, who landed on his feet and scored many goals in Pucela until he moved to the island last season, scored a real great goal for his former team: unmarking and controlling and shooting with his right foot without bouncing the ball, in the 59th minute. Canadian did much of the work for the Balearic Islands’ fourth victory this campaign and the 14 points with which they placed fourth.
Mallorca looked for their striker, in the absence of the injured Vedat Muriqi, but it was Dani Rodríguez who found him around the hour mark. Although Arrasate’s team showed that intensity, with a great return from Pablo Maffeo’s injury, in attack they took refuge in the set piece at the end of the first half, and Pucela was the one who had the chances with a ball to Latasa’s post at 20 minutes.
In the last one before the break, a foul by Darder that was poisoned, the local goalkeeper Karl Hein took a strong blow but was able to continue. Paulo Pezzolano’s men began to find their way easier after the restart, with Kike Pérez, but it was Larin who provided the quality to leave Zorrilla frozen (0-1). Also the team, which barely reacted until the honoring goal.
Valladolid, relying on debutants in the First Division, found themselves overwhelmed and in the 83rd minute, Valery made it 0-2 after a robbery from Lucas Rosa. In stoppage time, Iván Sánchez scored the greatest goals of the night, but the 1-2 did not change the discontent of the stands and the bottom position for the Blanquivioletas who are suffering at the start of the league and lost their talisman at home.
