“Mali’s National Assembly Leader Defiantly Supports Country Against ECOWAS Sanctions”

ECOWAS sanctions: Mali “is vaccinated against this virus” assures the speaker of parliament (CNT)

In Mali, the National Transitional Council (CNT, National Assembly) opened its April session last Monday. This meeting takes place in the Djeli Baba Sissoko room of the Bamako International Conference Center. In his opening speech, the president of the CNT did not spare ECOWAS at all.

Colonel Malick Diaw criticized the continued sanctions of the sub-regional institution against his country and the brotherly peoples of Guinea and Burkina Faso. “We do not need a microscope to know that the obscure purpose of the said measures is to continue to seriously harm our States. Fortunately, we are already vaccinated against this type of virus worse than Covid-19,” said the senior officer.

“We can even say a big thank you to ECOWAS”

Before launching this spade at the sub-regional institution, he took care to recall that it had called on the United Nations, the African Union and all international partners to support the implementation of sanctions against Mali, the Burkina Faso and Guinea. These punitive measures include the travel ban imposed on members of the government and other senior officials of the three countries.

Colonel Malick Diaw thanked ECOWAS for inflicting these sanctions on Mali, Burkina Faso and Guinea. “In the end, I believe that we can even say a big thank you to ECOWAS, for having shown us, through these actions, that we must rely exclusively on ourselves. This is why we are following with all due attention the development of cooperation relations between Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso”, declared the president of the CNT.

For him, the three countries must unite their efforts to further strengthen the Bamako – Conakry – Ouagadougou axis. “No sacrifice will be in vain to reinforce this common momentum towards happiness, stability and emergence,” he assured.
