Adema (52) was installed at the beginning of October as the new King’s Commissioner in Brabant. During the autumn holidays, she underwent surgery, in which abnormalities were found that needed further investigation. On Wednesday she heard that there was a malignant tumor. The affected tissue was completely removed during the operation.

In the coming months, Adema has to undergo a number of courses, a preventive treatment aimed at complete recovery. The commissioner must take a rest during those courses, but assumes that she can continue to do her job.

“I have accepted the office of King’s Commissioner in Brabant with enthusiasm. The welcome was warm and hearty. Despite this setback, my commitment to and commitment to Noord-Brabant is still great, ”she says.

In the past, Adema was a councilor in Deventer for seven years. She retired last summer after four years as mayor of Lelystad to become a commissioner in Brabant. “This job comes by once every 10, 15 years and I’m 52 now, just check it out,” she said when she left. “It was technically the hardest choice I’ve ever made.”
