A bubbly forty-year-old, Malianna admits to being a few decades younger in her head. She wants to keep her adolescent soul, even a child’s, and exudes an infectious kindness. Becoming a singer is a complete turnaround in her existence but perhaps the very meaning of her life that she has found, what’s more by putting her voice at the service of women victims of violence.
Malianna put her bags down in Gallardo (Eure-et-Loir) for seven years after living in Essonne. An executive in the insurance sector, the health crisis had a triggering effect to push her to return to the passion of her life which has always driven her, singing. She releases her first single Through the fog.
Not 6e, Loneliness upsets her
Song, for Malianna, is quite simply her DNA “it’s like breathing, it’s vital for me, I’ve really been singing since I was very little” she confides.
She remembers as if it were yesterday her first singing lesson, in 6th grade, with Loneliness, a real favorite for this Italian song which moves her and her interpretation astounds the class. “I got an 18/20 and that reassured me in the idea of singing” laughs Malianna.
She is so comfortable that the practice of singing will no longer leave her in her middle school and high school years where she never misses any opportunity.
She will do her first scene in Villabé as part of an annual show put on by the youth and entertainment department. Later she will also try her hand at the studio by recording choirs.
A mute during his career
But, after her studies, she decided to devote herself fully to her career and entered the insurance sector, particularly medical repatriations from abroad. She climbed the ranks from supervisor to executive.

During this entire period, with managing my career which was very demanding but also my life as a couple, I really put singing on standby… except when I found myself in my car!

And then comes the Covid, the confinement “and the natural thing came back at a gallop” she laughs.
A need to write your own texts
She completely immersed herself in her passion for singing, self-taught her technique, acquiring the basics that she might still lack, but as she has been practicing since childhood, she knows her body and its capabilities perfectly.
Until now she interpreted, what she now wants is to write her own texts and in particular to raise awareness of violence against women, all forms of violence.
I experienced psychological influence, unhealthy jealousy, constant pressure, judgment… situations that I was completely unfamiliar with and in which we find ourselves trapped even when we have character. I was in a daze, like a kind of hypnosis.
Malianna
It will take him three and a half years to get out of this grip.
A self-analysis
Coming from a family of Malian origin, Malianna has been aware of the cause of women for a long time “with the question of polygamy, the denigration of the condition of women, a woman who always takes second place… in fact we are formatted for this since childhood.”
His nature, his dynamism, pushed him to self-analyze, to question everything that could surround him. “I was a bit of a rebel in the family. My parents arrived in France in the 1970s and they had other things to worry about at the time.”
What annoys her to the highest degree is the underlying violence, the one that we hardly talk about, insidious, the one that undermines daily life, destructive in the long term.
Getting out of the “fog”
Released barely a month ago, Through the Fog already has 26,000 views on YouTube. (©Malianna)
Malianna uses the metaphor of fog to evoke this filter which pollutes the perception that women can have when they find themselves under the influence of a toxic relationship.
With Through the Fog I evoke this man who shows himself in his best light, offering flowers, jewelry… even a meal that is not hot enough, a drink that is thrown. Before the physical violence there are the blows to morale, the harsh remarks about clothes, makeup, haircuts… a destructive confinement.

Violence which does not fit into the overall statistics but sometimes causes irreversible damage. Malianna deploys her song through the prism of what she herself experienced when she ended up questioning herself “ from which cursor is this not normal?«
Living with someone who constantly plays with the emotional elevator generates real psychological chaos, especially as it is generally coupled with induced social isolation, unpleasant and closed behavior… “In my song, I made the choice to call the police, I know that the police are on the move, the call for help is vital.” A heavy but hopeful subject, Malianna was keen on it.
Multiple influences
Malianna does not seek to fit into a specific box of influence but she admits to having a real weakness for French variety led by Jean-Jacques Goldman, the poetry of Francis Cabrel, the voices, the passion and the emotional power of Lara Fabian and Celine Dion…
And then his idol, Mickaël Jackson for his incredible creativity starting from nothing, Mariah Carrey, Whitney Houston, Destiny Child… hip-hop, world music…
For March 8, Malianna is preparing an event in Dreux, in the meantime, on January 19, her second title will be available on the platforms.
The shock at the Dreux Women’s House
The singer was invited to the launch of International Women’s Rights Day in Dreux in November at the Maison des femmes.
She admits to having experienced a real shock in contact with many women:
There was a lawyer, a psychologist and then several women who testified, some who were in tears. It was really very moving, the savagery was sometimes not far from what some people have experienced for years. One alerted organizations, even the President of the Republic… but in the end they were still very alone.

In search of meaning
Malianna left her job completely in 2022. She was searching for meaning, no longer supporting the burnout of several of her colleagues.
A newfound freedom that she took advantage of to finish her first single but “in her cave” she continued her approach and has now nine singles in the pipes!
With You and me it focuses more specifically on the couple’s relationship which ends, when it is necessary to know how to turn the page. I said no evokes the scourge of street harassment “because young girls must be well aware that they can perfectly well say no! It’s everyday on public transport, in the street… where we are attacked because we don’t respond to requests even though we didn’t ask for anything.
For this last song she recruited extras for the filming of the clip “and I have already had around fifty responses, I can’t believe it, from women but also from men who adhere to the message”.
Jealousy finally will deal with his own past relationship, with humor.
Today, taking back the microphone, Malianna admits to feeling “ like at the exit of a labyrinth from which I have finally found the exit« .
And as is in her nature, she also hopes to provide a breadcrumb trail for other women. They just have to find their way, Malianna has found her voice in any case and doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon.
