Mali hospital equipped with latest generation machines by the Minister of Health –

Latest generation medical equipment at the Mali Hospital and logistical means for the regional health departments: The technical platform is gradually being strengthened to allow the management of all pathologies in Mali. The Minister of Health and Social Development, Assa Badiallo Touré, made the official donation of a gift offered to the Mali hospital on August 4, 2024. This donation financed by UNICEF support is estimated at nearly 4 billion FCFA.

Following the donations of equipment made to strengthen the technical platform at the University Hospitals (CHU) of Gabriel Touré, Kati and the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), the hospital in Mali has just acquired a new building equipped with new 1.5 Tesla MRI machines, a new 64-strip scanner, a new radiotherapy machine, vehicles and IT equipment, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

The Minister of Health, Doctor Colonel Assa Badiallo Touré, first welcomed ” the acquisition of this new equipment, the realization of the desire of the highest authorities of Mali to strengthen the technical platforms of hospitals in order to allow health personnel to work in the best conditions and contribute to improving the quality of care and health services offered to the population.

The new building is equipped with ” a scanner, a new MRI machine and a new linear accelerator acquired with state funding, will allow the restart of radiotherapy activities eagerly awaited by cancer patients at the Mali hospital ” she said.

According to Minister Touré, ” The 10 medical ambulances were provided respectively to the regional health directorates of the regions of Ségou, Mopti and Timbuktu, to the Coordination of the General Directorate of Health and Public Hygiene, the Sub-Directorate of Health Establishments and Regulations, the Sub-Directorate of Nutrition and the Nutrition Coordination Unit with funding from UNICEF for a value of 500 million CFA francs. »

UNICEF representative Pierre M’Gom explained that “ This grant aims to strengthen coordination, communication, data collection and analysis. It will also facilitate travel for community training and awareness-raising activities, as well as program monitoring and management, thereby increasing the effectiveness and impact of efforts to combat malnutrition in Mali. »
