England women’s national team won European 2022. The success of The Lionesses should inspire The Three Lions to World Cup 2022.
England won the Women’s European Cup for the first time which took place in England last July. Sarina Wiegman’s team won 2-1 against England after extra time.
This was a huge success for England, whose results were rather mediocre at women’s national team level. At the World Cup they only finished third at best.
Meanwhile in the European Cup, England have only finished as runners-up once in the inaugural edition in 1984. What the women’s national team experienced was actually similar to that of the men’s national team.
After winning the 1966 World Cup, England became frequent underdogs even though they were top-seeded and had a number of top-class players. It was only under the hands of Gareth Southgate that England improved and were able to reach the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and runners-up of Euro 2020.
It is hoped that this achievement will be surpassed when England participate in the 2022 World Cup. Success for Leah Williamson et al. must be arsonist for harry kane cs. be able to bring home the Jules Rimet trophy from Qatar.
“They are amazing, fantastic and solid, how can they all come together. The Lionesses have performed fantastic and everyone in this country supports them,” said the England midfielder Jordan Henderson to BBCSport.
