“E-book” stands for digital book. In order to read this type of book, you need either special software for computers, tablets and smartphones or an e-book reader. Since there are many different formats (files) for e-books, there are a few things to consider.
We deliver digital books in three formats. The formats are EPUB with DRM (Digital Rights Management), EPUB without DRM and PDF. For the PDF and EPUB without DRM formats, you just need to check whether your e-book reader is compatible. If a format with DRM is used, you also need to have a free Adobe® Digital Editions account. When you download an e-book that requires Adobe® Digital Editions, you will receive an ASCM file that must be added to Digital Editions and linked to your account. Some e-book readers (for example PocketBook Touch) also support the direct entry of the Adobe account login data – this means that these ASCM files can be copied directly to the device in question.
Since e-books can only be downloaded for a limited time – usually 6 months – you should always make a backup copy on a permanent storage device (hard drive, USB stick or CD). The number of downloads is also limited to a maximum of 5.
