GAZA – Prime Minister (PM) Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim revealed that the security services in his country were at the highest level of alert.
What is it?
Anwar Ibrahim said this was done to anticipate any assassination operations against Palestinians. The problem is, Malaysia was once the location for the murder of Hamas members who were studying in that country.
“I emphasize that his country will not tolerate any attempts to kill Palestinians on its territory,” said Anwar Ibrahim, reported by Middle East Monitor.
Then, he emphasized the need to focus on the humanitarian tragedy experienced by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and not on relations with Hamas.
Commenting on the Houthi attacks in the Red Sea, Ibrahim added in his statement to Al Jazeera that the problem did not start with the operations launched by the Yemeni group but rather with the Israeli occupation’s aggression against Gaza.
In December 2023, Malaysia announced through a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office that it was banning ships carrying the Israeli flag and preventing ships bound for Israel from loading goods at ports.
It explained that these steps were taken: “In response to Israel’s actions which ignore basic humanitarian principles and violate international law by continuing to carry out massacres and atrocities against Palestinians.”
