Two Malaysians accused of being involved in the 2002 Bali bombings have filed a motion to dismiss the charges against them due to alleged government misconduct regarding the interpreters provided to them. The accused claim the US government assigned them the same three interpreters who they say are incompetent and biased. Brian Bouffard, the lawyer for the Malaysians, states that his clients had objected to the interpreters on the grounds of conflict of interest, prior confidentiality and inappropriate statements. Bouffard has also filed several other motions related to the continuing government delay of the case. The trial began last Monday at the US Military Court in Guantanamo and has been adjourned on Wednesday, with the next hearing date yet to be determined. Family members of four of the victims of the Bali bombings have expressed their frustration and disappointment with the endless delays in resolving the case.
